We love Science!  From December 15th to December 19th we enjoyed a very special Science Week. In year 4 we made thermometers and tested them using a Scientific  learning approach: question, hypothesis, method, conclusion.

Questions: How can we measure temperature? Is it hot or cold in the Science classroom?

Hypothesis: What´s your hypothesis? Is it going to work? Is it hot? Is it cold?

Method: First we prepared the materials: a transparent plastic bottle, a straw, food coloring, water, alcohol, test tubes, bowls and wash tubs, plasticine and a kettle. Then, we watched Carmelo Piazza´s video to follow his directions on how to make a home-made thermometer.

Conclusion: Most of our thermometers worked and we checked that it´s hot in our classroom and that boiling water is extremely hot!
