Our school is involved in the ACRA Project. ACRA stands for “Aprender Ciencias con Realidad Aumentada” or “Learning Science through Augmented Reality”.

Augmented Reality, or AR, turns the environment around you into a digital interface by placing virtual objects in the real world, in real-time. In our school we use AR to find out about the living and non-living things around us to improve our learning experience.

In our first project with AR we are using QR-Codes in Year 5 to find out about plants and how they are classified according to the way they reproduce. Quick Response or QR codes are two dimensional barcodes that can be scanned by our tablets’ cameras. Once the code is scanned, the tablet reads through the code and the information embedded within the code is revealed.

We love using mobile devices and now we have found an interesting use for them at school. Do you want to see us in action?
